EKIN HAS TAKEN A FIRM STEP IN ITS SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY POLICY AND COMMITMENT TO EQUALITY BY FORMALISING ITS MEMBERSHIP AS A COLLABORATING ENTITY OF EMAKUNDE, THE BASQUE INSTITUTE FOR WOMEN. THIS STRATEGIC ALLIANCE REINFORCES THE COOPERATIVE’S VISION AND UNDERLINES ITS COMMITMENT TO A FAIR, INCLUSIVE AND RESPECTFUL WORKING ENVIRONMENT, WHERE TALENT IS THE ONLY DISTINGUISHING FACTOR.

The news is announced at a key moment, prior to 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a date that EKIN includes in its calendar of awareness-raising actions.

Recognition of a History of Commitment

The collaboration with Emakunde is external recognition of the work that EKIN has been carrying out internally, which dates back to historic milestones such as the incorporation of female partners in 1979.

The new status of Collaborating Entity implies a formal and ongoing commitment to integrating the gender perspective into all areas of corporate management, from recruitment processes to organisational culture.

II Equality Plan (2025-2028): The Internal Action Framework

This alliance is fully integrated into the roadmap set out in EKIN’s Second Equality Plan 2025-2028, whose main objective is: ‘To be an organisation that promotes a fair, inclusive and respectful working environment, where talent is valued regardless of gender.’

This three-year plan establishes four key areas of action within the company:

  • Management Strategy: Integrating the gender perspective into decision-making.
  • Organisational Culture: Promoting an equal working environment.
  • Joint Responsibility for Work-Life Balance: Developing measures that promote personal and professional balance.
  • Healthy Working Environment: Ensuring an environment free from harassment and violence.

EKIN’s management emphasises that its commitment to equality is a driver of innovation and a core value of the cooperative, in line with its overall vision of people management.

EKIN will continue to work in this direction, hand in hand with Emakunde, to ensure that equality is a tangible reality that drives excellence in machine tools.
